PGM: RWCNFDM.EXE DESCRIPTION MERGE UTILITY for RWCnf
----------------- ===================================
This utility program can make entering Descriptions into RWCnf very
easy for you if you have a SOURCE FILE that contains a NAME and a
DESCRIPTION for your conferences (each on the same line).
The program will attempt to find NAME matches in your Sourcefile for
every Conference in RWCNF.DAT (created by the Update). It can be run
in either MANUAL or /Automatic Modes.
A great way to get a good SourceFile would be to capture the CNFN
listing from your HUB, or simply use your OLD CNFN.
This utility pgm. MUST be run from the same DOS directory where the
RWCNF.DAT file is located!
The program will ask you FIVE (5) simple Questions;
1) The Complete DOS Filename of a SOURCE FILE
2) The Column position of where the Conference NAME field BEGINS in
your SourceFile.
3) The total LENGTH of the NAME field in your SourceFile.
4) The Column position of where the DESCRIPTION field BEGINS inside
your SourceFile.
5) The total LENGTH of the DESCRIPTION field in your SourceFile.
Use your favorite text editor to determine the answers to prompts 2 thru
5. If you dont supply the correct positions you will get unsatisfactory
results from this utility! (garbage in, Nothing out!)
AFTER you have determined the correct information for the above
5 questions, run RWCNFDM.EXE from the \RWCNF DOS directory.
RWCNFDM
This will run the program in "Manual" mode. That is, it will attempt to
find a Match for each Conference NAME in RWCNF.DAT in your SourceFile-
If a match is found, it will SHOW YOU the DESCRIPTION in the Source file
and ASK YOU if you want to use it (Y/N)? Answering Y will place the new
Description into RWCnf and processing continues with the next conference
answering anything else will cause the program to ignore the Match and
NOT place it into RWCnf.
RWCNFDM /Automatic (or just /A)
Runs the program in AUTOMATIC MODE. When NAME Match's are found for any
Conference(s) the DESCRIPTION will be saved into RWCnf and processing
continues. NO PROMPTS will ever be made!
Remember; the success or failure of this utility depends entirely on the
accuracy of YOUR ANSWERS to the five initial questions! It really IS an
easy process!!
After MERGING your Descriptions with this utility, remember that you must
run the RWCNFR program to produce a new CNFN report!
